The OCAT® program is designed for public safety officers who deal with conflict or potential violence. This includes corporate security, federal, state and local law enforcement organizations, contract security companies, academic or healthcare law-enforcement and security, corrections, military police, probation and parole, bail enforcement, and executive protection. Nearly 10,000 OCAT® instructors have been trained worldwide.
Through a combination of Practical Exercises and Classroom instruction you will learn how to:
The Personal Protection Control & Defense training program was organized to provide officers with the skills needed to control aggressive individuals and to defend themselves against assaults. Because complicated techniques are rarely effective, the methods in the Personal Protection Control & Defense program are based on principles and solid fundamental skills that mesh seamlessly with our other training programs. Those who are trained in the OCAT® “Oleoresin Capsicum Aerosol Training”, PATH® “Practical and Tactical Handcuffing” or PPBT® “Personal Protection Baton Tactics” programs will recognize that this program is based on the same common sense approach to officer defense training.
The PATH® "Practical and Tactical Handcuffing" course is the most complete and innovative handcuffing course in the country. Public safety officers including corporate security, federal, state and local law enforcement organizations, contract security companies, academic or healthcare law-enforcement and security, corrections, military police, probation and parole, bail enforcement, and executive protection will benefit from the principles and skills learned during the PATH® training program.
Nearly 3,000 PATH® Instructors have been trained worldwide. The techniques presented are practical and effective. Topics to be covered include the safest approach and positioning for handcuffing, handcuffing non-compliant subjects, prone and kneeling handcuffing, removing handcuffs, and the use of various type of cuffs, among others.

The Health and Safety Institute (HSI) Active Violence Event Response Training (AVERT) program is intended for a general audience.
The program includes cognitive information and participation in activities that help to prepare a student for possible active violence events and how to react to improve likelihood of survival.
This program is not intended to meet workplace first aid regulatory requirements.
The online portion of this AVERT Blended Learning course for students is a prerequisite to the classroom training portion.
Additional training in CPR, AED, and basic first aid is highly recommended.
The goal of this training program is to help participants develop the knowledge and confidence to react quickly if active violence should occur.
AVERT is designed to include a significant amount of interactive participation.
